Non-Traditional Mother's Day Gifts

Is it me or did Mother’s Day kind of sneak up on us? My aunt called me today and asked me “What scent do you like from Bath and Body Works? Your grandmother wants to get you something for Mother’s Day” and it hit me. I love candles from Bath and Body Works and while I can come up with a long list of things I would want there is nothing I truly need. But the more I thought about it today the more ideas popped in my head of things that would be cool to get that are not really traditional, so I really wanted to share!

Car Detailing: Honestly, I am such a clean freak at home, but when it comes to my car, I do not maintain it as well as I would probably like to. I think gifting a car detail to a mama or even just a voucher for a car wash and vacuum would be really appreciated.

House Clean: When I had my first child, my husband’s job gifted us a certificate to get our home deep cleaned! I always think about how thoughtful that gift was. While my standards are high regarding my home cleanliness, I think it would be a great idea and a huge weight lifted off her shoulders.

Hire a chef for the day: I have seen this become so much more popular lately and I think it is so neat! If you find yourself in a situation like mine, where my husband makes bomb bacon, but can’t really make anything else I think this would be so fun to experience together! A home cooked meal for your family that is different, delicious and you didn’t have to lift a finger to make it happen! The best part? You can stay in your comfy clothes if you’d like!

Massage: I love a good Spa day, but they are very rare around here! This would be such a special treat where your favorite lady can be pampered all day with a nice massage, facial, manicure and/or pedicure. Add a nice brunch and that calls for a *perfect day*.

Mom’s night away: I am actually planning one of these for myself and I am so dang excited! In 4.5 years, I have been away from all 3 of my children for a night maybe 3 times! I look forward to a big bed with fluffy pillows where I can spread out and not have my littlest babe asking to nurse or an early morning wake up. I know that I will miss them and will likely call them several times during this time frame, but my mental health really needs this. My two older cousins are coming with me and I am sooo looking forward to pizza, wine, PJ’s and girl time <3

While many of us moms are probably wishing for a day where cleaning, cooking, laundry and mommy-ing is void, the truth is that it would just all be waiting for us the following day. I think these are great out of the box and unexpected ideas that any mom in any place within her motherhood journey would genuinely enjoy! xoxo
